New visitor at iCourts - Hanna Bosdriesz

Hanna BosdrieszHanna Bosdriesz, a PhD candidate at the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies at Leiden University, will be visiting iCourts in January and February 2015. During her stay she will be working on her PhD project which analyses the contribution of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR) to the project of international criminal justice. In particular, it seeks to determine whether and how the IACtHR, through its case law on the duty to prosecute, has functioned as a catalyst for the domestic prosecution of international crimes in the states under its jurisdiction. As part of this analysis, the research will include three case studies into domestic accountability efforts in different Latin American countries and the IACtHR’s role in those efforts.

Hanna holds an LLB (cum laude) and an LLM, both from the University of Amsterdam. Before starting her PhD research at the Grotius Centre in 2012 she worked as a junior researcher and lecturer in the Department of Constitutional Law at Leiden University and was a participant in the university’s Talent Program. For her PhD project she received a Meijers scholarship from the Faculty of Law at Leiden University.
