New Visitor at iCourts Cormac Mac Amhlaigh

Cormac Mac Amhlaigh is Lecturer in Public Law at the University of Edinburgh.  He holds law degrees from Queen's University Belfast, University College Dublin and the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, where he gained his Ph.D.  His research interests lie primarily in the field of public law and particularly the extension of the ideas of public law beyond the state context.  He is currently researching the concept of constitutional legitimacy in relation to constitutional discourses beyond the state, particularly in relation to the European Union, European Convention of Human Rights and International law and has published in these areas.  He is co-editor of After Public Law (with Claudio Michelon and Neil Walker) published by Oxford University Press in 2013.  During his stay at iCourts, he will be researching the legitimation strategies adopted by the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice for the broader legitimacy of their respective regimes.
