New Visitor at iCourts - Aida Torres Pérez

Aida Torres Pérez is Professor of Constitutional Law at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona). She holds and LL.M (2002) and a JSD (2006) from the Yale Law School. She has been a visiting scholar at the European University Institute (Florence 2009), the University of Trento (2011), the University of Maastricht (2012) and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (Heidelberg 2013). She is an external legal expert of the Centre for Judicial Cooperation at the EUI (Florence). Her research interests include European constitutionalism, the multilevel system of rights protection in Europe, judicial dialogue, and the interpretation of fundamental rights. She published Conflicts of Rights in the European Union. A Theory of Supranational Adjudication, OUP 2009, as well as several articles and book chapters on these topics, among others: “Too many voices? The Prior involvement of the Court of Justice of the European Union”, 4 European Journal of Human Rights 2013; “Constitutional Dialogue on the European Arrest Warrant: The Spanish Constitutional Court Knocking on Luxembourg’s Door”, 8 European Constitutional Law Review 2012; “The Dual System of Rights Protection in the European Union in Light of US Federalism”, in E. Cloots, G. De Baere and S. Sottiaux (eds), Federalism in the European Union, Hart Publishing 2012. During her stay in June 2014 at iCourts, she will work on a research project on the independence of international and supranational courts.
