New PhD at iCourts - Pernille Kloster

Pernille Kloster joined iCourts on 1 September 2023. Pernille holds a BA and MA degree in Law and a BA degree in Rhetoric, all from the University of Copenhagen. She graduated in 2022 and prior to joining iCourts, she was an attorney-at-law.

Pernille joined the project Circulation and dissemination of populist ideas of law and justice across communities and genres: the case of human rights law (CIRCLE).

Pernille’s PhD project will explore populist rhetoric of law and justice and its impact on legislative and judicial discourse. The data will comprise Danish media and political texts in which populist ideas on human rights are expressed, as well as judgments from Danish courts and legislative texts such as preparatory works which refer to judgments and writings from the European Court of Human Rights. The methodology will be a combination of qualitative close text reading and quantitative automatic text reading.

Associate Professor Anne Lise Kjær will supervise the PhD project, and a co-supervisor is yet to be announced.
