Johan Tufte-Kristensen has been employed at the University of Copenhagen since September 2014. He has written a PhD thesis about arbitrators' impartiality and independence, and today he deals more generally with the regulation of conflicts of interest, which concerns, inter alia, the judicial system, public administration, the legal profession, healthcare, research and the financial sector. The aim with Johan's research is to make the application and development of the rules on conflicts of interest more nuanced and predictable in order to promote efficiency, legitimacy and confidence in the regulated professions and institutions.

Johan teaches civil procedure at the legal master's degree program, and he supervises graduate students whose master theses concern civil and criminal procedure. He represents the Danish government in a UN working group dealing with arbitration and conciliation (UNCITRAL’s Working Group II) and carries out various other assignments, including as a member of The Danish Board of the Nordic Law Meetings and as a member of the board in Young Arbitrators Copenhagen, an association that seeks to promote the interest in arbitration among young lawyers.
