Would you like to write your bachelor/master thesis in Environmental Law, Climate Change Law and the Energy Transition?

Light bulbWe are looking for curious and motivated bachelor and master students who would like to write their thesis in the field of Environmental Law, Climate Change Law and the Energy Transition.

For each of these broader research areas, it will be possible to select specific research topics and you will receive support and guidance from a specialized team of supervisors who will help you navigate the variety of options and identify the topic that best matches your interest. Carrying out your thesis with us will also give you the possibility to present your research (and get a certificate) at the Interdisciplinary Seminar Series on Climate, Energy and Sustainability. Further, relevant events may be offered via the Greenhouse for Tax Sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

By means of example, potential research subjects could aim to address:

  1. Environmental research on key challenges at the international, regional or domestic level related to: Species, biodiversity and forests; Atmospheric and air pollution; Oceans and fresh water; Broader underpinning concepts, principles, law-making, implementation and enforcement.
  2. Climate change research on mitigation, adaptation, loss and damages at all levels or regulation and governance (international, EU and domestic), including the interaction with other areas of law, such as economic law, human rights law, migration law, law of the sea, and Arctic governance, emissions trading and taxation.
  3. Energy transition research, including the regulation of renewable energy and strategies for the decarbonization of specific industrial sectors, e.g. aviation and maritime transport.

Please note that this list is not exclusive and interests on different topics related to environmental law, climate change law, energy law and sustainability are very much welcome.
