Admission requirements and application
Admission requirements
In order to enrol you must as a minimum have a Bachelor degree in law or another discipline. Please note that you will not obtain a degree by following graduate courses as part time student.
With your application we need an assessment made by The Danish Agency for International Education (IU) of the level of your foreign degree. Please also send a copy of your residence permit.
Because the number of participants per class is limited, you will only get a place in the course, if there are places avaliable. It is not possible to apply for bachelor level courses.
Be aware that it is only possible to enrol as a part time student if you already have a residence permit in Denmark or if you are EU citizen.
Application procedure and enrolment
If you are interested in enrolment, you will have to submit an electronic application form to the faculty along with documentation that you have a Bachelor or Master degree.
Please note that it is not possible to get a refound of the admission fees after semester start. After the application deadline, we will determine whether there is room for you on the courses you applied for. You will then receive confirmation of your enrolment in the course and a bill for the admission fees. If we do not receive your admission fees by the date stated, your enrolment will be cancelled.
Application deadlines
There are two application deadlines per semester. You can save DKK 1,000 if you apply within the first deadline. In addition, we encourage you to apply within the first deadline in order to make your application procedures as smooth as possible before the semester start.
-
For courses in the autumn semester the first application deadline is 21 May and the second application deadline is 25 July.
- For courses in the spring semester the first application deadline is 17 October and the second application deadline is 17 November.
Fees and payment deadlines
The course fee is DKK 1,000 per ECTS point if you apply in the 1st application round, and DKK 1,100 per ECTS point, if you apply in the 2nd application round. ECTS points indicate the total workload it is estimated that completing a given course would require. ECTS points do not indicate the academic level or level of difficulty. Because master level courses are generally 10 ECTS points, a typical fee would usually be DKK 10,000 per course.
The fees include class participation and two examination attempts.
| 1st application round | 2nd application round | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fee | Payment deadline | Fee | Payment deadline | |
| Spring semester | 10.000/3.000* | Varies | 11.000/4.000* | Varies |
| Autumn semester | 10.000/3.000* | Varies | 11.000/4.000* | Varies |
* Fee for self-study students, who only pay for examination attempts.
Self-study
If you are taking a course at the graduate level as a part-time student, you also have the option of being a self-study student. The fee is DKK 3,000 per course, as long as you enrol by the enrolment deadline of the 1st application round. In the 2nd application round, the fee is DKK 4,000. The fee includes two exam attempts.
However, this means that you do not have the option of attending classes in the course and will not receive the syllabus or other material.
Reservations
Each semester more courses are offered than established. What courses are established depends among other factors on the number of students who register for each course. This means that even if a course is listed in the Course Outline it is not guaranteed that the course will be taugth the semester in question. By applying early you can influence which courses are established.
We reserve the right to changes. Of course we do what we can to ensure that the listed teachers and time shedules for classes will remain as announced, but changes may occur.
If changes do occur after your enrolment but before the start of the semester, we give you the opportunity to deregister and get a refund on your tuition fee.
If you are unemployed
You must contact your unemployment insurance fund (A-kasse) to find out what your options are, if you are interested in taking law courses. Danish employment law has special rules for the participation of unemployed persons in continuing and further education programmes. Please note that if you enrol without informing your unemployment insurance fund/the Danish Employment Service (AF), you may have problems with your unemployment benefits.
