William A. Schabas is Professor of international Law, Middlesex University, London. He is an internationally respected expert on international criminal law, human rights law, genocide, and transitional justice. Professor Schabas is the author of more than twenty books dealing in whole or in part with international criminal law and international human rights law, including highly acclaimed treaties on the International Criminal Court, genocide in international law, and the abolition of the death penalty in international law. He received the Certificate of Merit of the American Society of International Law at its 2007 Annual Meeting for his 2006 book The UN International Criminal Tribunals: Former Yugoslavia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone. He has also published more than 300 articles in academic journals, principally in the field of international criminal law and international human rights law. His writings have been translated into several languages.
