PhD student Ana Nordberg won first prize in thesis competition on innovation

Ana NordbergWith her thesis 'Nanotechnology Patents in Europe: patentability exclusions and exceptions', presented at Stockholm University, won the thesis competition ‘Nytt & Nyttigt'

The competition is organised by the Swedish innovation agency VINNOVA and the industry association - ESBRI (Entrepreneurship and Small Business Research Institute). It is open for theses strongly linked to the theme innovation and commercialization/utilization, presented at any Swedish university that have received the degree VG (highest grade). The first prize is a travel grant of 30,000 SEK. Ana Nordberg's thesis analyses nanotechnology patents in Europe. Nanotechnology is a likely candidate to become the next industrial wave and patent law will play a central role in the outcome of general policies directed towards promoting scientific research, industrial innovation and sustainable economic growth.  Currently, there is a lack of in depth studies concerning the subject. The thesis takes a reflexive and critical approach in order to uncover a broad spectrum of legal issues concerning nanotechnology and nanotechnology patents.

More information, including links to two summaries of the thesis, articles in the press, pictures and a video-clip of the ceremony can be found at the Nytt & Nyttigt web site: http://www.innovationsuppsats.se/tidigare.asp
